At
the beginning of the day, beach lovers are out enjoying the sands while
I nurse my first coffee of the day |

Soon
enough we were out on the cliffs. This is Carrack Du, the head that
forms the other arm of Porthmeor Bay. You can see our holiday flat just
above and to the right of Juliet's head |
|
People
used to tell me they went to Cornwall for the wildflowers. I never knew
what they meant until I went with Juliet in late Spring. Above you can
see Juliet with the thrift, left are native English bluebells, and right
is campion, with Godrevy lighthouse and St Agnes head in the background... |

...but
the great surprise to me was the extraordinary number of wild orchids.
We have these in Brighton, up on Hollingbury Hill, and there have been
more than usual this year, but there were fields of the things in Cornwall. |

Juliet
and that fat ghost again - I really have taken on the traditional Brazier
profile - on Clodgy Point, with The Island and Porthmeor Bay in the
background. This is the head that features in nearly all the sunset
pictures. |
|
Juliet
in a wonderfully moody shot that was not at all reflective of her mood... |
|
...she
was far more playful and cheerful, as this portrait of her examining
the wildflowers shows |
|
|
One
of the less brightly coloured wild flowers, these succulents appear
to grow in any crack in a rock or dry stone wall. One wonders if this
is where Wyndham got the idea for the Triffids... |
