Subject: RE: Night land : Sea of
images.
Ta,
very reassured,
particularly on
Brass Bras and Combat High
Heels are something I rail against
I'd hope the Night Land is safe
from this stuff anyhow.
Could be interesting:
The many faces of
Woman... an angle to have at the back of our
minds.
There's a different 'face' for
each section, right?
Any thoughts/models you have in
mind for each?
The Chichoni image is very
handy for imaging (Though she does look frighteningly like a Nightmare-Ex of a
friend of mine) - as are all your descriptions of character.
Yes, it is
Joy Division.
Which moves me to dig the Joy Division CD's
out.
Don't have
the full edition of K's Metropolis, but I found some scans on the web and
saved them. Tasty, yes. Again, very nouveau/Vienna Secession - a
bit of Klinger... Actually, it's amazing how many of those artists' names
start with "K".
Not Mucha though - and Mucha (Though cliched as all
heck) Rokks.
Max Klinger - D'you know, I've never actually
encountered this chap (The occasional pic, but never knew his name). Lovely!
Lots fo pour over. Thanks!
Seconded on
the "Eater" pics.
Thanks.
So, we're all agreed on 'one cover. Three
internal illos' as a target.
Opinions on any of the images you like most are
welcome. (I should send you my summaries of the next sections).
I'm always keen to bring out whatever a writer has in
mind. Much of the time, the writer has no viaul imagination and it has to
be pulled from elsewhere but if a writer does have an Image, that's a
good starting place to... see how much further I can take
it.
That's the Comic Strip Thinking
probably.
And, yes, the whole thing is, to me, very rendolent of
Klimt - which is pretty much how I see a lot of the Redoubt anyhow.
Thanks for
noticing.
'Symbolist' is provbably a good thing to have in my
mind. Gorblimey guvnor.
Best:
Smuzz
